MeSienta

Who makes MeSienta, and why

My name is Javier Pino and I'm a software engineer. MeSienta didn't start out as a business: it started in a supermarket aisle, turning a packet over for the umpteenth time to work out whether it was going to disagree with me.

I live with a digestive system that complains, and learning what upsets it taught me how hard the weekly shop is when you have a food sensitivity: fructans hide behind "inulin" or "chicory", the ingredients list is printed in six-point type, and the apps that existed scored how "healthy" something was in general without answering my actual question: how is this going to sit with me? So I did the thing I know how to do and built the tool I was missing. MeSienta is that tool, shared.

What MeSienta is (and what it isn't)

It's a free web app that reads a food label and translates it for you: sugars, fat, salt, additives, allergens and a FODMAP estimate, with a verdict adapted to the sensitivities you set in your profile. How each part is worked out, with its sources, is explained in how it works.

It is not a medical device, it doesn't diagnose, and it doesn't replace any professional. I'm not a doctor and I'm not a dietitian: I'm a meticulous engineer with a temperamental gut. That's why the criteria behind the analysis aren't mine but those of the bodies that do know (EFSA, IARC, the UK's Food Standards Agency, the Monash FODMAP framework), and why every rule in the engine carries its source beside it.

The principles that aren't up for negotiation

Write to me

The best fixes in MeSienta have come from people who use it flagging something up: a label the engine misread, an additive that was missing, a wrinkle of the diet nobody had allowed for. If you see something odd, or want to suggest something, write to me at info@pin0.dev. I read everything.

Important: MeSienta offers general information about food labels. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, and it does not replace the advice of your doctor or a registered dietitian, particularly with FODMAP diets, allergies or any medical condition.
